Prior to surgery

• We typically receive information from you physician’s office a week or two in advance. However, in some instances that timeline is much shorter.
• Our business office staff will be in contact with you to discuss your insurance benefits and your expected cost for the procedure. Our goal is to complete this phone call at least 1 week in advance so you have time to plan accordingly.
• Our nursing staff will be in contact with you to review your health history, current medications, and provide you instructions on how to prepare prior to surgery. If your procedure requires anesthesia, do not eat or drink anything after midnight prior to your surgery.
• In most instances you will be required to arrive 1 hour before your scheduled surgery time. The Surgery Center nursing staff will give you a specific arrival time during your pre-operative phone call.

Day of Surgery

• Once you arrive, please check-in with the receptionist at the front desk. We will have paperwork for you to fill out and ask you to verify the surgical procedure being performed.
• We will collect any applicable co-pays, co-insurance, and remaining deductible amounts during the registration process. We accept all major credit cards, Care Credit, cashier’s checks, and cash.  If paying in cash, please bring the exact amount as we do not keep change on site.
• After registration is completed a member of the nursing staff will greet you and escort you to a pre-operative holding bay. You will change into a patient gown and your nurse will begin preparing you for surgery.  During this time, they will ask you many questions including verifying your name, date of birth, surgical procedure, and surgical site.
• If you are receiving anesthesia for your procedure, the CRNA will interview you and discuss the risk and benefits of anesthesia.
• Your physician will visit with you and discuss your surgical plan including risks and benefits. They will verify and mark your surgical site with their initials.
• The nurse that will accompany you and care for you in the operative room will interview you and review your chart documents. They will again verify your name, date of birth, surgical procedure, and surgical site.
• You will be taken to the operative room where you will receive anesthesia and be positioned appropriately for your surgical procedure.
• After the completion of your surgery, you will be transported to the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU). You will be monitored closely by the PACU nursing staff while you recover from the anesthesia medications.  They will make every attempt to keep you as comfortable as possible and provide any necessary pain medications
• Once you meet discharge criteria, your nurse will discuss discharge instructions with you and the responsible adult that accompanied you to the surgery center.
• After we have answered any remaining questions you might have, we will escort you to your vehicle and wish you a speedy recovery!
