Where are you located?
We are located at 4940 W. 137th Street, Leawood KS 66224. Our building is located directly in front of the Church of The Resurrection.
Can I eat or drink prior to my procedure?
If your procedure requires anesthesia, do not eat or drink anything after midnight prior to your surgery. The nursing staff will give you specific instructions on your pre-operative phone call.
What time should I arrive for my surgery?
In most instances you will be required to arrive 1 hour prior to your surgery. The nursing staff will give you a specific arrival time during your pre-operative phone call.
Will I receive a call to discuss my benefits and patient responsibility?
You will receive a phone call from a surgery center financial representative to discuss your insurance benefits and patient responsibility for your surgery.
How long will my surgery and recovery time take?
Surgery times vary based on your physician and procedure being performed. This is also true for your time in recovery which typically depends on how much medication you have received and your level of comfort.
What will I be required to pay on the date of surgery?
You will be responsible for paying any applicable co-pays, co-insurance, and deductible.
How will my spouse or loved one know how I am doing during the surgical process?
The MAO Leawood Surgery Center Staff will do our best to communicate your progression throughout your stay. Your spouse or love one can always request a status update by speaking with our receptionist or another member of our staff.
What should I bring with me to the surgery center?
We are required to obtain a copy of your Driver’s License and Medical Insurance Card. This allows us to safely identify you as the patient.
What should I wear the day of my surgery?
Please wear clean, comfortable, loose fitting clothes on the day of your surgery. The nursing staff will give you any specific instructions on the pre-operative phone call.
Should I take my regular medications?
Yes, please take your routine medications the day of surgery unless otherwise specified by your surgeon or the MAO Leawood Nursing Staff. The nursing staff will give you additional instructions on your pre-operative phone call.
Should I arrange for a ride to the facility?
Yes, if you will be receiving anesthesia you will not be allowed to drive for 24 hours. Please plan for an adult to bring you to the center and drive you home. You will need to have someone with you the next 24 hours.
If you are having a Pain Injection procedure you must have a ride to the facility and home after the procedure is completed.
Will I receive pain medicine to take home after my procedure?
If your physician prescribes you medication, you will receive a prescription the day of your surgery to take to your pharmacy to be filled.
